Dr. Wally Boston's Bio
His experiences in online education originate to the early days of the Internet when best practices for course delivery, teaching and learning, student engagement, and student persistence were continually evolving and developing. He led the growth of the American Public University System from 4,000 online students to more than 100,000.
Dr. Boston’s business acumen enabled him as CEO to lead the parent company of APUS, American Public Education, Inc., to an initial public offering in 2007 and four consecutive years of being ranked in Forbes Top 10 List of America’s Best Public Companies. He retired from APEI and APUS in August 2020. Shortly after his retirement, he co-founded Green Street Impact Partners, a private equity firm focusing on education technology investments.
In addition to his CEO, COO, and CFO roles, Dr. Boston has served on multiple for-profit and non-profit boards. In 2019, he was appointed by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to a six-year term as a member of the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI). He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American College of Financial Services, the Board of Trustees of McDonogh School, and the Board of Our Community Salutes. In addition to serving as a board member of Advantage Media, he serves as a board member of Acadeum, Inc. and Sagax.ai.
In addition to his corporate and non-profit board service, Dr. Boston is proud of his status as a serious lifelong learning advocate. He blogs about higher education, artificial intelligence, technology, and other topics at www.wallyboston.com.
