Mark Richardson's Bio
Mark believes that education and business acumen is imperative for success. Because of this, he is deeply involved in promoting programs for business advancement. He is a guest lecturer for MBA and Entrepreneur programs at Georgetown and George Washington University, as well as the University of Maryland, Penn State and Virginia Tech. He is a recipient of NARI’s Harold Hammerman “Spirit of Education” Award. This prestigious award recognizes excellence in training and education in the remodeling industry. Mark was named as One of Ten individuals who will remake the remodeling industry this century by Remodeling Magazine. Mark is also a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies where he serves as a senior advisor and liaison between Harvard and the construction industry.
As an authority in the industry, Mark is a featured columnist and contributor for publications such as Professional Remodeler, Professional Builder, Residential Lighting and Big Grower. His insights have appeared in Money, The Washington Post, Better Homes and Gardens, Fortune, Advantage, and various other media outlets. As a business advisor, Mark has worked with many leading remodelers, manufacturers, and distributors.
He has served on boards for Better Business Bureau, NARI, ROXUL, Mosby Building Arts, Advantage Media, Harrell Remodeling, Shine, Surefire, Allen Construction, System Pavers, Dreamstyle, Neal Kelly Companies as well as others. Mark was inducted into NAHB’s Hall of Fame, which honors individuals’ lifetime achievements in making a lasting impression in the construction industry in 2008. He was also honored as Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year for the Real Estate and Construction sector in 2006.
Mark has motivated and inspired marketing, sales, and business leaders across the country as a keynote and motivational speaker for national meetings and industry events. These engagements have included Extreme Sales Summit, NARI, NAHB, OSI, GAF, Andersen Windows, The Pro Expo, Marvin Infinity, SunTrust Bank, Professional Builder, Professional Remodeler and many other business and real estate events.
Among his many other accomplishments, Mark has formed several Think Tank and Thought Leader groups, which bring together the leading contractors and manufacturers in the remodeling industry. He hosted a top-rated consumer radio show “Our House” for ten years, appeared as an expert on HGTV, launched a national franchise business, a kitchen and bath division of a design/build firm, and created the “Remodeling Live” and “The Pro Expo” tours. Currently he hosts a podcast series title “Remodeling Mastery,” which addresses critical issues and insights to take a remodeling business to the next level.
In addition to creating the “30-Day Remodeling Business Fitness” program, Mark published the best-selling book How Fit is Your Business? which takes the reader through a business fitness checkup and provides a prescription for better business health. His 2015 book, Fit to Grow focuses on how businesses need to position for growth and what it takes to get there. In 2017 Mark published his latest book Time Mastery, which helps the readers understand and master time.
